Issue Position

As a father of twin boys, I want my sons and their classmates to have the opportunity to pursue their personal and professional goals right here in Michigan. We must support our schools and ensure that all kids have the resources they need to compete for jobs in the 21st century economy. I'll fight to make college more affordable so that our kids can get the higher education and specialized training they need to compete with workers from around the world.

My mom is a teacher, so I know how the budget crisis is making it hard for educators to do what they do best. Education is going to be key to moving Michigan forward. We must give our schools and teachers the tools they need to succeed. I support moving the deadline for balancing the School Aid Budget up to June 1 to ensure schools can plan and don't have to endure the chaos of mid-year cuts.
